The flameproof (Ex d) ATEX temperature sensor is designed for temperature measurement in explosive atmospheres where safety relies on containing any explosion inside the enclosure. It is intended for industrial installations classified as zones 1, 2 (gas) and zones 21, 22 (dust), in accordance with the ATEX directives and IEC 60079 standards.
The design is based on a certified Ex d flameproof enclosure, dimensioned to withstand an internal explosion without mechanical failure and without transmitting flame to the surrounding atmosphere.
Mechanical clearances, threads, joint surfaces and flame-path lengths are strictly controlled to ensure the hot gases are quenched before any escape to the outside.
The measuring element consists of a thermocouple or a resistance probe (PT100 / PT1000 RTD), selected according to the temperature range, the required accuracy and the process dynamics.
The internal assembly is designed to withstand high thermal stresses, mechanical shocks and industrial vibration.
The housing is made of flameproof aluminium alloy, offering high resistance to corrosion and harsh environments.
The cable glands and cable entries are Ex d certified and ensure the integrity of the enclosure.
